MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center is seeking an experienced surgical PA leader with 3-5 years progressive leadership experience and first assist experience to join our Peri-Operative leadership team. In this role, you will be accountable for the daily operations of our surgical PA first assist and inpatient surgical program that includes 22 direct reports. You will also be expected to provide direct care as a surgical first assist and inpatient surgical PA as needed. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, good interpersonal relationships and the ability to work collaboratively in the OR environment with all individuals.
About Us: Our department consists of 14 operating rooms performing 17,000 surgeries per year, with 60% of the volume outpatient. The organization has (2) Da Vinci Robots (SI and new XI) with volumes of 464 cases per year on the SI alone. A Digestive Disease Center with (2) GI endoscopy suites performs about 1100 inpatient and 3100 outpatient procedures annually. As a Bariatric Center of Excellence we perform over 230 bariatric surgical cases (gastric bypasses and sleeve gastrectomies) a year. MFSMC’s surgical focus and key strategic initiatives are around minimally invasive and robotic surgery, colo-rectal, ortho and other oncological surgery, uro/gyn, neuro, ortho, vascular and general gyn surgeries. Impending projects include a 75,000 square feet surgical pavilion which will include all new standard state of the art operating suites including a hybrid room, new PACU and Pre-Admission Testing.
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program; Master’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 5 years experience as a certified physician assistant in an active clinical setting; 3 years in an inpatient setting; supervisory/management experience preferred.
LICENSE/CERT/REG: NCCPA (National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants) certification. Registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners. BLS (Basic Life Support)/ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
SKILLS: Basic computer skills preferred.
