General Summary of Position:
The Radiation Therapy Senior Dosimetrist designs treatment plans with the aid of a treatment planning system, calculates treatment time for approved plans, handles radioactive sources during implantation and removal of interstitial implants, prepares shielding blocks for electron treatments and assists in quality assurance checks of treatment units and treatment procedures. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital’s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
- A Bachelor or Master of Science degree in physics or related fields.
- Certification by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board MDCB required.
- Minimum of 5 Years as a Dosimetrist in a Clinical Radiation Therapy department, or equivalent, is required.
At least three years of experience or graduation from an approved Medical Dosimetry Program through the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists AAMD.
