Everything you need to know
What is the status of my application?
Due to the large volume of applications we receive, we do not respond to individual status requests. However, if you log in to our careers page you may view the status of all of your applications.
What is your application process?
We encourage you to apply to any job you are interested in and qualified for. Once complete, your application and assessment (where applicable) will be reviewed to ensure you meet the qualifications for the position. If qualified, your application will be considered along with all other qualified applicants.
Can I submit my resume rather than apply for a job?
Yes, you can join our Talent Community and upload your information in a few simple clicks. While quicker than completing the application, this is not a formal application and if you are selected for an interview, you will need to complete the application and applicable assessment(s).
What is the interview process?
If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted by a recruiter for several follow up questions to your application and to confirm the details of the opportunity (shift, location, etc.). The recruiter will then schedule a time for you to interview with the department manager.
Can I wear scrubs to my interview?
If you are interviewing for a position for which scrubs are proper attire, it is appropriate to wear scrubs to the interview. If you have any concerns about appropriate attire, you should consult the recruiter.
What does PRN mean?
PRN (or per diem) refers to an opportunity that lacks a set schedule, guaranteed hours, or guarantee of benefits. PRN staff are utilized in different ways depending on the department. PRN opportunities can provide a valuable introduction to MedStar for professionals who currently hold full-time jobs elsewhere.
Do I have to keep reapplying for jobs if I am not selected?
If you are not selected for a position and are interested in another, you do need to complete a new application.
What are MedStar’s benefits?
MedStar provides outstanding benefits to our associates. Please click here to learn more.
What is the survey at the end of my application?
The Healthcare Staff Assessment gives us more information about your work preferences so that we can better evaluate you as a future associate. The assessment is not a test that you can pass or fail. Additional assessments may be sent to you depending on the job you are applying for and/or the facility.
I can’t remember my log-in to apply.
Select “forgot my password” from the careers site page and you will be sent a reset link.
How long before I get an interview?
The time between your application and an interview can vary greatly. Because we keep your application under consideration for opportunities across the system, you may be contacted within days for an interview, or you may hear from us several months later when a new opportunity arises.
May I contact the department directly for an interview or more information?
Our leaders are focused on giving their attention to their patients and staff, and it is not appropriate to contact them directly regarding a job or your application.
